The Next Food Network Star - Big Daddy's House!
OK, so we all know that Aaron McCargo Jr won TNFNS. We also know that a lot of people think FN wanted him to win all along to meet a quota they seem to be aiming for. That REALLY bothered me because that kind of stuff just bugs the crap out of me AND because I wanted Adam to win. But today, I watched Big Daddy's House (the curiosity got the best of me so I watched it during the pre-race show).
It was actually pretty good! I liked the set and the shows intro and the music. Aaron did really well in front of the camera. He was funny and relaxed and did a really good job. And I loved the food that he made! He cooked two dishes that were inspired by and named after his two sons. One was a pork loin sandwich with some broccoli rabe and some baked fries that looked incredible. The other was a chicken tender salad. Lots of restaurants offer salads with some form of fried chicken in them but he did something I've never seen before: instead of bread crumbs he dredged the chicken strips in crushed up tortilla chips! How ingenious is that?
Aaron seemed confident and very knowledgeable in his ingredients and cooking techniques. I didn't really understand why only one of his sons were there and the other was only present in a photo that was displayed several times, but other than that and a few words that I couldn't understand (seasoning for one), I thought the show was a hit!
I'll keep watching if I can remember when it comes on and hopefully Aaron will work on his diction and keep the grammatically incorrect slang terms (yo!) to a minimum.
Kudos to Food Network for picking the rightful winner. I guess they really do know what they are doing!
In hindsight, Lisa was just too snooty and uppity (and I could never watch her because of her bad posture, ugly haircut and squinty eyes). It was just SO obvious that she thought she was better than the other two contestants. Food Network fired Martha Stewart and I don't think we need another snooty patootie show! Adam, although cute, just didn't have the spark in his personality that Aaron does.
As soon as we take a break from our low-carb diet I'm so going to try making that chicken tender salad!
