Sometimes DIY is NOT the best approach!

What an ordeal! Poor kitty! That is too funny... I had to take my long-haired cat to the vet for that same procedure, so that he could be sedated for it. After that we would trim the knots out daily or weekly with scissors so they wouldn't beg so big and tight to begin with. The cat was agreeable to this.
Yeah it seems like the knots just appeared overnight and we tried cutting them off with scissors but they were so close to his skin I was afraid....I hope (for the groomers sake) that they sedate him...I don't see otherwise how they are going to do it!
Oh!!! he looks so miserable. Poor kitty. My kitty hates being washed or cleaned too. She is not so bad with brushing. I found that I had to try a bunch of different brushes to find one she liked, and finally all I do is rub her with the edge of a plastic flip-flop. It sounds a little crazy, but it does get her fur a little cleaner and gets rid of some of the shedding. Also, she LOVES it, so she lies down and stretches while I do it. I don't know if that would work for a long-hair though, probably not! I vote for the groomer too. I did that once, and Maya was a bit traumatized, but she smelled so nice and clean afterwards!
