Day Two of a smoke-free house! Yay!
So yesterday I FINALLY made a firm commitment to something I've been wanting, needing, planning and trying to do for a while.....I took my nasty cigarettes outside!
I washed and put away all of my ashtrays except for one which is now on the front porch on my little table beside my 'smoking chair'.
During a normal workday, once I get to work I may smoke 6 cigarettes tops. During a normal day at home I can easily go through 1 1/2 to 2 packs and not even realize it. It's SUCH a habit sometimes you don't even realize you're doing it!
I finally grew a brain (and some balls) and said to myself "Hey! You have been doing this smoking outside thing at work for years! You can do it at home too!"
It really hasn't been that bad and it has EASILY already cut my at home smoking by at least half if not more!
It's so nice not to have the ashes all over the desk and everywhere. It's so nice that I'm already realizing the savings!
It's good for me, it's good for Hailey not to have the second-hand smoke and it's even good for my cat Fatso, who has a slight bit of asthma and sometimes has a hard time breathing.
I hope I can stick to this. This is the first step in an effort to quit. I'll get there.

My partner stopped smoking and then he hired someone to help him with the milking down on our farm and she smoked. He subsequently started again, she left, and he is still smoking. His health is so bad though at the moment and he really needs to stop. I have asked him to, but he needs to give up for himself!
You are heading in the right direction though by only smoking outside! Keep it up! :D
Thanks and congrats on quitting yourself. I've smoked since I was a teenager. When offices first went 'smoke free' back in the early 90s it was REALLY hard. Can you believe, back in those days I could actually keep an ashtray on my desk and smoke, smoke, smoke all day long? Boy times have changed. Once I got used to the smoke-free office it was no big deal. These days most all public, indoor (and even some outdoor) places are 'smoke free'. I'm glad that society is making it more difficult for people to smoke and also MUCH LESS ACCEPTABLE. It is definitely having a positive effect on our youth. Kids are picking up smoking as habit in the high numbers they were when I was a kid. Heck, when I was 13 years old I could walk in a store and buy a pack of cigarettes. Nobody thought a thing about it. Times have changed considerably!
In the past 3 days I have easily smoked 1/3 of what I would have during my hours at home had I been mindlessly smoking indoors. I'm amazed at how easy it is! This makes me plan my smoke breaks the same as I do at work instead of just mindlessly smoking one after another. And I can already tell my house smells better! Yay!!
Hope you can convince your partner to quit. It's DEFINITELY bad for your health and gets worse the older a person gets and the longer they smoke.
Yes I shall have to get on to him some more I think.. some serious nagging :D
